My art studies began when I was very young, as an art apprentice to a very talented grandmother.
Hello and Welcome! Come in for a bit while I share a little about myself and how it relates to the artwork I create for you.
My Story begins in the middle of what is now five generations of artists.
As a young child I was content to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside of my home and its varying wild creatures, draw with my pencil on sketchpad, or quietly sit by my grandmother's side while she painted, waiting patiently for her to set down the paint laden brush and draw beautiful sketches of horses for me. Saddly at the very young age of 12, I lost my grandmother, and it was then all her wonderful art treasures with the memories they contained, her easel, canvases, and a wooden case nearly overflowing with brushes and tubes of oil paints, were bestowed to me.
Time passed, then one day a great desire filled me. Gathering all the memories of Grandmother's technique, and using her palette where oils still remained as my guide, I began to paint. I was immediately at ease with canvas and brush and felt an exhilarating joy that led one painting to many. Propelling headlong into my teens I added oil pastels, watercolors, scratchboard, sculpting, and woodcut printing, thrilling to the challenge of each new medium. Most of these pieces of art were sold to collectors young and old upon completion. Oil paintings, drawings, and bronze sculpture were created in later years. One such bronze was well received in a prestigious juried art auction in Chicago, while collectors found more of my art in galleries and quality museum art auctions in Minnesota. Originals and prints are now found in private collections around the world.
My passion was and always has been the horse, driven early on by a desire, a dream, to be close to and own a velvet nosed equine of my own. Dreams do come true, and with time I have owned, bred, raised, and trained the beautiful horses of the Arabian breed, many whom now appear as whiskery foals, gentle medieval unicorns, or the noble winged Pegasus of my art.
In creating my art I love working with all mediums, but the present now finds me 'painting' with my favorite, Prismacolor Pencils on bristol. I love the 'no dry time' and Prismas capabilities of producing results on paper similar to a fine oil.
Through my art and design I have been blessed with the opportunity to meet and talk to so many wonderful collectors and fellow artists worldwide, and truly look forward to meeting so many more! I wish to thank you all for your interest in my creations!
Thank you so much for spending this time with me. I wish you many great experiences in the wonderful world of art!
